About Us
Welcome to the Toledo Municipal Court! Courts play a critical role in upholding the principles of justice, equality, and the rule of law. Our focus is providing service and respect to the members of our community.
The Toledo Municipal Court serves the City of Toledo, Ottawa Hills, and Washington Township. The court is divided into three separate branches: the Clerk’s Office, the Judges’ Division, and the Housing Court. Separately elected officials oversee the three divisions but they all work together to fulfill the mission of the court: to hear and dispose of cases in a timely manner while providing opportunities for rehabilitation.
Our History:
The roots of the Toledo Municipal Court can be traced back to the early 19th century when the city’s growing population required the establishment of a municipal court. The court has evolved and adapted over the years to meet the changing needs of the community it serves.
Our Team:
Our team of judges, magistrates, bailiffs, clerks, probation officers, court specialists, mediators, and administrative staff work together to ensure every case is heard and resolved while enhancing public trust and confidence in the court system.
Our Values:
Toledo Municipal Court emphasizes transparency, accountability, and the spirit of service while also promoting the fundamental pillars of procedural fairness: voice, neutrality, respect, and trust. The court firmly believes that these principles promote legitimacy and trust in the legal system.
