The Honorable Judge Michael R. Goulding
Michael R. Goulding is a life-long resident of Toledo, Ohio. A graduate of St.
Francis de Sales High School, Judge Goulding received a BA in English from the
Ohio State University in 1991 and his JD from the University of Toledo Law
School in 1995. While in law school, he clerked for the firm of Shindler, Neff,
Holmes, Schlageter & Mohler, which hired him as an associate attorney upon
graduation. He became a partner of the firm in 1999.
Judge Goulding was a partner of Shindler, Neff until he was
appointed to the Toledo Municipal Court in January, 2007. In
November, 2007 he was elected to a full six year term. Judge
Goulding was selected to serve as Acting Presiding and
Administrative Judge from 2007 to the 2010. In December 2010,
Judge Goulding was elected by his colleagues to serve as the
Toledo Municipal Court's Presiding and Administrative Judge.
Judge Goulding is an active member of the legal community at
both the local and state level. He is a member of the Ohio
Judicial Conference and serves on the Conference's Ethics and
Professionalism Committee and has assisted with the Conference's
Judicial-Legislative Exchange Program. He also serves as an
instructor for the Ohio Judicial College, which provides
continuing education to Ohio judges, magistrates and court
personnel. Judge Goulding is a member of the Association of
Municipal/County Judges of Ohio, where he serves as an elected
Trustee of the Association and chairman of the Association's
Judicial Ethics and Newsletter committees. He also serves on
the Association's Education committee. Judge Goulding is a
member of the Toledo Bar Association, where he serves on the
Municipal Court, Professionalism, and Grievance Investigation
committees. He is also a member of the Lucas County Bar
Association, Ohio State Bar Association, Ohio State Bar
Foundation and the Toledo Bar Foundation.
Judge Goulding continues to serve as co-chairman of the
Diocese of Toledo Red Mass committee, and is active in his
parish. He is married, with three children.
